Diversity Pathways

Promoting greater engagement in employment and social inclusion for people with cognitive disability through building employers' capacity

Diversity Pathways is a collaborative research group within the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) at Flinders University that aims to promote greater engagement in employment and social inclusion for people with a disability. We co-design practical solutions with a broad range of stakeholders, including employers, industry partners, disability employment experts, researchers and people with lived experience of disability.

Inclusion in Fashion

Our collaboration was born from a grant opportunity to support employers in employing people with cognitive disability. Our project facilitators, from the Centre for Social Impact at Flinders University, saw an opportunity to work with employers to develop and improve their skills and knowledge in disability employment. This grant opportunity brought together researchers from across Flinders University with a passion for improving employment opportunities for people with a disability.

We have three objectives

Raise Awareness

Raise awareness about the advantages of hiring individuals with cognitive disability and challenge any misconceptions
about their capabilities.

Foster Connections

Foster connections among employers, employees with cognitive disability, and disability employment service (DES) providers to establish a more inclusive and supportive workplace environment for individuals with cognitive disability.

Enable Employers

Enable employers in the hospitality, fashion and retail sectors to exchange best practices and insights on creating inclusive workplaces for individuals both with and without cognitive disability.

Employment matters for everyone

We co-design disability employment approaches with employers, industry partners, and disability experts to create diverse and inclusive workplaces in the hospitality and retail industries.
